Class Party

Dylan had his class party last Thursday and, of course, Sutherlan and I were there! It was a lot of fun!! I made goody bags for the kids (beach buckets with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, play dough and ring pops). We had pizza, chips, cupcakes and Sprite. The last few days of school were basically "Fun Days" for the kids and they all had a blast. Dylan even took his PSP to school the last day. We had a wonderful year and we had the best teacher anyone could hope for, so THANK YOU Mrs. Davis!! I can't believe my baby is a third-grader now!!!

Here are some pictures from our party:

Mrs. Davis gave each student some pictures she had taken before the Music Explosion program on the last day of school. I just love the group picture of his class before the program.

Awards Day

Dylan had Awards Day at school on Wednesday and Mrs. Davis said he would be getting an award, so be sure to come. Well, Sutherlan and I were there in the second row waiting to see him get his awards. We were so proud of him!!! He ended up getting THREE awards....

1 for all A's and B's for the year
2 for no discipline points for the year
3 his class voted for one boy and one girl that showed good citizenship going above and beyond for their classmates and Dylan got the award for his class!

Way to Go, Dylan!!! We are so proud of you and we love you!

Field Day

Dylan had Field Day at school on May 8. They had relay races and other activities. Basically, a day to play outside all day! I went up to the school to hang out and watch the parade. Each class had a theme for the parade and Mrs. Davis' class was the GREAT GECKOS! They all looked so cute! It was fun spending the day at school and Sutherlan enjoyed being one of the BIG kids for the day.

Here are some more pictures from our day:

Music Explosion

The First and Second Graders performed Music Explosion for the school on May 5. It was music from the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. It was a lot of fun watching the kids perform and Sutherlan loved seeing Bo Bo dance and do the moves! We had spent some time up at the school helping the music teacher make the background for the stage, so Sutherlan had heard these songs being practiced while we were there. She practically knew all the moves they were doing. She insisted on performing with them from our seats. The parents around us enjoyed watching her as much as they did the children in the performance. They were amazed she knew the moves. Dylan's class had the 40's era and he looked so handsome in his costume. We found it at Party City. The night of the performance I walked Dylan to his class and a group of girls from 2nd grade came running down the hallway asking to see the "cute little boy in the suit". He did look cute :) if I do say so myself!!

Here are a few pictures from that night.

Here are a few pictures after the program with Ian, Sutherlan and Bailey. Don't they look adorable? Ian's class had the 70's.

Spring Break

We are so far behind on our blog because we have been so busy, but we went home to Birmingham for Spring Break and had a great time! We got to visit everyone while we were there and here are a few pictures from our trip....

The first full day we were there, we headed over to the new Bass Pro Shop in Leeds to check it out. We thought it would be a good way to get out and do a little shopping without boring Dylan to death!! Plus, they have lots of things for the kids to do there.

I think this is Sutherlan's favorite part of Bass Pro Shop. She loves watching the fish. They couldn't get over this big one!

This is definitely Dylan's favorite part of Bass Pro Shop. He got to drive in a NASCAR simulator! I thought he did a great job!! Sutherlan rode shotgun for this one..she's so little you can't see her in there. I think he came in 24th.

We went out to dinner with Andrea and the kids to see them since her kids had their Spring Break the week before we did, so they had school the next day!

We went to visit my grandmother on Thursday and my Aunt Sandra came over to see us. It was so good to see them both! I don't get to see them as often as I would like!

Dylan took this picture of all the "girls".

Brandon came down on Friday and met up with us to head over to Kiki and Pop's new house!!! It is so beautiful..we loved it! We got to see Aunt B, Uncle John and Will while we were there. The kids loved the goldfish in Kiki's backyard and going to the park with Will.

Bridge Bed

Brandon has done it again! Sutherlan had gotten to where she was waking me up all through the night saying her bed was "just not comfortable" and other things to try and get me into her room. Well, I asked her if we got her a "BIG" bed like Dylan's would she be happier and she said, "Yes". So, we went in search of a twin size bed instead of the toddler bed she had. Well, we found out very quickly that they are expensive!!! Just a single mattress without the box spring was $100.00, so I started thinking....Brandon can build her a bed like he did for Dylan. For those of you who don't know, Dylan has a race car bed that Brandon made him when he was about 4. So, I started thinking what kind of bed should we do? Then, it came to me!! She has this huge castle on her wall and I thought how cute would it be to have a bridge leading up to the castle and that could be the bed???? I told Brandon my idea and he had in mind just what he wanted to do and this is what he came up with......

Needless to say, she loves it!! She has really gotten into Hello Kitty lately, so we went and got Hello Kitty bedding. It turned out so cute!!

For those of you who have kids, I'm sure you will understand...keeping them in bed all night can be somewhat of a challenge. I found out that Build-A-Bear Workshop has Hello Kitty, so I took her to pick out a Hello Kitty "Sleeping Buddy" and she picked out some pjs for her. It was a lot of fun and now she has her new bridge bed and Hello Kitty sleeping buddy to keep her company. She has actually slept really good in her new bed!! She told me she has the BEST DADDY EVER! She has thanked him so many times I can't keep count and she constantly tells me that her bed is "Comfee Cozy".

Dylan visits "The Paperclip"

Dylan is out of school for spring break this week. When we asked him last week what he wanted to do he told Brandon he wanted to go to the NASCAR race in Martinsville, Virginia and tour the race shops in and around Charlotte, North Carolina over the weekend.
Dylan really liked this track because at just a half-mile, it is the shortest track on the circuit. He could see the entire track without having to turn his head and said it looked just like the race track Brandon built him to race on upstairs in the playroom.
Martinsville is shaped like a paperclip, hence the nickname, and is famous for its concession stand hotdogs. Dylan loved them. He ate one more than his dad.
This was the seventh different track Dylan has visited, adding Martinsville to Talladega, Daytona, Charlotte, Darlington, Bristol and Atlanta.
