MACON, Ga. (AP Wire) - Overkill isn't necessarily a bad thing.
You can never have too much money, or too much fun. You can never be too lucky. A girl never can be too pretty or have too much class.
But the Falcons' supreme domination over the Navy team Thursday night? Here we must mercifully draw the line.
Overmatched? Overwhelmed? Call it what you will, but mere minutes into the contest it was over-and-out, as the Falcons returned to their winning ways with a 27-12 rout.
It was the signature win of the season for the Falcons (4-1-2), who resembled juggernauts on both sides of the ball.
After winning the coin toss and deferring to the second half, the Falcons' defense established its dominance early. The unit held Navy on downs and upon taking possession, Sam Clark knifed his way to his first of four scores on the night.
Navy answered, however, with a 40-yard touchdown run, which proved to be the Falcons' lone blemish.
Clark scored again on the Falcons' ensuing drive to go up 14-6. Then the floodgates opened.
Playing from behind, the Navy team attempted to establish a passing game, but was quickly thwarted when Clark raced 30 yards for a TD following an interception to put the Falcons ahead by a comfortable 20-6 margin.
The Falcons again held on downs as the first half ended and prepared to send the offense back on the field after the intermission. Not missing a beat, the unit marched methodically down the field and Dylan Webb capped the drive with his first score of the year on a quarterback bootleg.
Leading 27-6, the Falcons defense again repelled the Navy effort and comfortably ahead, sent in the reserves to play out the remainder of the game.
In an unprecedented move, Falcons coach Surjit Patel attempted to manufacture a mercy score for the Navy team. He called timeout with less than 2 minutes remaining and on 4th and goal from the 15 instructed his team not to pull flags and let Navy score. Two Falcons defenders promptly escorted an opposing rusher into the end zone for the gift touchdown to make the score look a little better.
Nonetheless, the Falcons still look like the team to beat as the regular season enters the stretch run.

These articles are so funny! The writer gets SO into it! Who is this person anyway?
His daddy!
That is so Funny!!
I thought it had to be someone who knew Dylan pretty well...and someone a wee bit partial...
Now that I think back a few years...it's all starting to come together.....you should keep a scrapbook of all these articles. Dylan would love to have it later in life.
I agree with Nina....that's a great idea about the "articles". He will get a kick out of this someday....maybe when he's playing "college or pro ball" to read these articles about his days of flag football!!!
Keep em coming, son...they're very entertaining!
